The Texas Affordable Housing Specialist (TAHS) certification equips you with the knowledge to help first-time and underserved homebuyers as well as increase sustainable homeownership in Texas. The certification offers 12 CE hours, including the mandatory four hour United Texas: Housing Initiatives that Work course. Other topics include: FHA Lending, Fair Housing, and homebuyer resources related workforce housing. Use the find a course feature to see upcoming courses that apply toward the TAHS.  

United Texas: Housing Initiatives that Work

Course description    As a Texas REALTOR®, you can help more people realize the dream of homeownership. United Texas, the anchor of the Affordable Housing Specialist Certification, gives you the information you need to help your clients with low-cost financing, assistance programs, and a host of other options to make housing more affordable and available to all buyers. Partners for this course include the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation, and the Texas Veterans Land Board.


FHA Lending for Workforce Housing

Course descriptionThis course will introduce REALTORS® to FHA and provide an overview of the FHA lending process. It will help REALTORS® understand FHA’s role and function in the homebuying process, and discuss how to best serve clients who are FHA eligible. The course addresses the history of FHA, regulations, guidelines, and products, as well as market conditions. FHA works in concert with HUD to meet housing needs in the community.

Prior to class, attendees will receive an email with information on setting up a Zoom account and links to class materials, if applicable. To participate in class, a functioning Web camera is necessary.
